Program Descriptions

Club Español KidzThis course offers age-appropriate techniques to help students learn conversational Spanish through fun.  Games, role-playing, music, dance, sports, and culture are infused into the curriculum.  Science, math and history are integrated as well.  Whether or not Spanish is being taken in school, this is a great way to enhance your child's learning experience.

Conversation Club – This club will be a forum for children to hold short conversations based on various scenarios -- eating out, playing on the playground, meeting new friends, playing soccer, etc.  We'll teach them the words they need to know for the conversation and they'll take it from there.

Group Tutoring – This program is designed for students in grades 7 through 12 who are taking Intro to Spanish or Spanish 1 and need a little bit of extra help.  Students must bring their textbooks and notebooks to class each week.  The teacher will focus on those areas where the most help in needed amongst the group.  If a student needs extra help alone, parents can register for one-on-one tutoring sessions.

Survival SpanishThis program is a non-academic, non-grammar class designed for persons who want an easy and quick way to learn limited amounts of everyday Spanish. We will use three components: Speaking in Spanish; Listening in Spanish; and Cross-Cultural Issues. You will learn how to converse using practical, common phrases and questions in Spanish that are relevant to YOUR life and YOUR life situations

Kick It In Spanish@ - This is a developmental soccer program taught exclusively in Spanish.  The goal is to teach the fundamentals and learn Spanish at the same time.

Karate -  This course teaches the fundamentals of karate.  Students will learn discipline, kicks, and sparring and they will have the opportunity to earn belts.

Entrepreneur Club - This program is designed to get young people thinking about what they like to do, what they are good at and how they might be able to turn that into a business right now at their age.  We will go through a series of exercises to uncover their talents and then they will hone in on one talent to create a business.  They will actually develop a business name, logo and ideas on how they can market their business.  By the end of the second 8-weeks students will have developed a short business plan.  This course is designed to last the entire school year in 8-weeks sessions and by the end of the year, all young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to exhibit their products or services at the Lessons From Abroad Multicultural Expo for Children in June 2012.
